“I can’t believe this. 1,000 Facebook Likes.
How did we get here?”

Four years ago, I bought my first DLSR camera for a Journalism Photography class. I didn’t know the slightest thing about shutter speeds or exposure. I just knew that I loved being around people and seeing their happy reactions when they got pictures of themselves. I also knew that no matter what I was doing in life, I wanted to keep producing art. I never would have guessed that photography would become my main medium of art. I never would have guessed that this passion might morph into a career. I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me I would have one thousand supporters. So, let me tell you why 1,000 likes is personal hoorah for me.

1. IT SHOWS ME THAT PEOPLE CARE

The affirmation I get through “likes,” shares, and comments tells me that my community of supporters actually believe in me. They are interested in my latests photography experiments. They support my passions. Brides like Elizabeth Miller and Katy Franklin consistently give me encouragement through first likes. Friends from Australia (Frances), Houston (Sofi), Kansas (Hayley), Thailand (Thum + Note) and countless of other places are cheering me along this journey even though they’re not near by.

2. IT’S PROOF THAT MY WORK CAN BE MEANINGFUL.

These brides and couples trust me to document their wedding day. THAT IS A BIG DEAL. I get to be involved in their life’s history- which is a HUGE honor.

Photographing babies, kisses, weddings and 50th anniversaries gives people a frozen snapshot of their life. These snapshots travel fast because of the people in them. Joseph and Lauren Quigley have our images hanging up somewhere in Guatamala. Reena’s mother, who wasn’t able to make it to the wedding from Thailand, was able to relive the day with her daughter through pictures on the blog. These images connect people. These people mean the world to me.

3. IT FUELS ME TO KEEP DREAMING.

Reaching this milestone gives me so many ideas! Now that I have this solid foundation, I want to dream big. Reach more people. Shoot more weddings. Upgrade my gear. Revamp my website. I want to keep doing this.

Thank you, friends, families, friends of families and families of friends.

This wouldn’t be possible with out you.
